The modular units were all sealed and bolted together to give the look of a single piece with the stainless steal surround being flush to the solid top units. This allowed the teams to slide pots from the hot cooking surface straight on to the side ready to serve - great for health and safety and for helping the competing teams to get out food to diners that was hot.
