Manufacturer service, installation and maintenance
Our Service Technicians are fully factory trained to know our machines inside-out. We offer installation, maintenance, and a range of service packages for commercial kitchen catering equipment.
In addition to unrivalled training, each of our Techs hold a core stock of original manufacturer parts in their van - just two of the reasons our first-time fix rate is so high.
12 week initial training programme
Each fully qualified technician begins their HOBART Service training journey with 12 weeks of intense product training, this is the beginning of a year-long programme. Starting with the basics, our Techs go through critical health and safety training, including electrical safety before moving on to product training.
HOBART commercial kitchen equipment is split into 2 main product categories – ware wash and cooking. Our Techs are taken step-by-step through each piece of equipment including installation, components. programming, fault finding, water testing and softeners.
Mark Whitmarsh, HOBART Service's Technical Operations Manager explains,"Our recent induction programmes have been very successful where we have seen individuals successfully come from other industries to become very competent technicians within the catering industry.
"All our new employees that join our Service Team are put through an extensive and in-depth technical training programme which covers their first three months of employment. Our new field Service Technicians are intensively trained at our training facility in Peterborough and are able to demonstrate professional customer skills which then contribute to improved customer satisfaction and product liability."
Purpose-built training facility
Service Technician training takes place in our state-of-the-art training facility at our HOBART UK head office in Peterborough and in the field with shadowing a mentor.
"A mixture of classroom and practical training with the additional benefit of field visits with our experienced array of Service Technicians contribute towards the overall induction process. This is followed by a technical sign off process to ensure all our new recruits have the confidence and competency to demonstrate the have the key skills to become a successful commercial catering technician for HOBART Service UK."
Ongoing Technician training
Every year, our Service Technicians receive days of refresher training to fine tune their HOBART catering equipment knowledge.

Hobart, Bonnet and Elro trained as standard
In addition to HOBART products, our Service Technicians are also trained on Bonnet and Elro kitchen equipment – all three brands form part of the ITW group of companies. HOBART Service are specialists in supporting the HOBART, Bonnet and Elro brands, however we offer our services on all brands of catering equipment.
