From apprentice to HOBART Service Technician: Meet Ben
This week it’s National Apprenticeship Week. Over the past few years, HOBART Service have taken on apprentices in different departments throughout the company.
Today we focus on Ben. Ben started his HOBART Service journey in 2016 as an apprentice Service Technician, qualifying as a fully trained Tech 2 years later, in 2018.
Joining HOBART’s expert Tech team as an apprentice helped Ben decide this was the career for him. “My apprenticeship with HOBART benefited me greatly, it gave me a sense of direction. I started HOBART’s apprenticeship scheme when I was young and didn’t really knowing what I wanted to do with my career, HOBART definitely helped me along that path.”
Ben loves the challenge that being a Service Technician brings, “I have learnt many different skills since being a part of HOBART. I tend to keep learning something new every time I go to site which I think that is a skill in itself: the ability to take on new information, not be too closed minded to new ideas or strategies.
“You might be put outside of your comfort zone at times and make a few mistakes but that's all part of the learning and growing.”
Excelling in his career is important to Ben. It’s this attitude that has helped him achieve great results, “(Since working at HOBART Service) I see myself with more experience and knowledge to be able to give good result consistently.
“Being able to provide good results consistently is a big thing in the trade so I hope to achieve a level of consistency with my work which can rival some of the current team leaders, giving me the opportunity of becoming a team leader as well.”
Ben is currently training to take his skills to the next level and become one of HOBART Service’s Gas Safe Engineers.
