Quickfire Q&A with…Joe Clark, Area Sales Manager – Hobart UK Equipment Division
One of Hobart’s newest recruits, Joe Clark brings fresh energy and perspective to the manufacturer’s team. Having relocated from New Zealand in search of a new challenge in the food industry, Joe’s passion for innovative technology means his current role could be the perfect fit.
Fresh from his travels this summer, we sat down with Joe to chat about his favourite dish, his love for fashion and what drew him to this exciting new role.
In one sentence, how would you summarise your role at Hobart?
It’s a very diverse role – everyday you’ll find yourself in a different place talking to different people. We’re building relationships across such a broad spectrum of people, talking about equipment, talking about food. You never know where you’ll find yourself.
How long have you been in your role?
It’s been just over a year now. I’m still very fresh. I came from FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), and this role was a perfect way to move away from that and still be involved with food, whilst playing into my passion for technology.
Why do you love being a part of the Hobart team?
The thing that attracted me to Hobart was the team. The people are really important to me in any job, and here I am really close with the team in my area – I can lean on them for support, and I support them back. Everyone is there for each other, and we can always have a good laugh.
What’s your favourite Hobart product and why?
My favourite product by far is the Two Level Washer. When you speak to a customer about it, they are amazed by the functionality. The problem-solving solutions it has for customers is far better than what anyone else has on offer, and it sells itself.
Tell us something about you that not many people know?
I’m an avid shoe collector. When I moved here, I had to leave about 30 pairs of shoes behind and I’m slowly working my way back up. I’ve got 15 pairs at the moment which is increasing daily.
What’s the best meal of your life, and why?
When I was travelling in Turkey this summer, we stayed on a boat for a week, and we had these local Turkish men cooking for us every day. They made the most amazing Turkish meals and being out on the water, they would go out and catch seafood, then bring it back and cook it for dinner. It was incredible.
