"Still so much left to achieve…” Hobart and ImpactLoop Celebrate Year Two of Partnership

Lauren Hunter, Commercial Director at ImpactLoop & Tracy Southwell, Managing Director Hobart UK Equipment Division

Hobart is continuing its sustainability journey as it moves into year two of partnership with global decarbonisation tech company, ImpactLoop.

The Peterborough based manufacturer was the first in the sector to back ImpactLoop in a shared ambition to explore commercial catering embodied carbon data, that is the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the manufacturer for products sold into the UK market.

So far, the partnership has led Hobart to establish baseline carbon data for 80 of its fastest selling products. This transparent approach, and the issue of ‘life cycle assessments’ is, says Hobart MD Tracy Southwell, playing an ever-greater role in the purchase decision process and has been pivotal to the success of the manufacturer following the initial investment and partnership with ImpactLoop.

"We took the leap [with ImpactLoop] over a year ago to build our knowledge and understanding of embodied carbon and its significance to catering equipment – the first manufacturer in the sector to do so.  During the past 12 months, momentum has grown and there is now ‘loud and clear’ demand for carbon data from progressive dealers and projects and consultant channels.”

“With announcements made on the same subject just last week from the FCSI and more dealer declarations predicted, we are quietly celebrating our leap of faith into a more progressive approach to sustainability initiatives and carbon data.”

“We’re excited to announce our continued partnership with ImpactLoop but there’s so much more yet to achieve.  Taking carbon data to next stage of lifecycle assessment, exploring alternative end of life options and running pilot schemes to test and learn how we can adapt to this ‘new currency of carbon’ will undoubtedly continue to challenge us as a business and our journey to improve the impact we have on our planet continues.”
